What does Standout Arts charge?

What Do We Charge?

Standout Arts has 4 primary methods of partnership with our clients:

  • By the hour
  • By monthly retainer
  • Per project
  • Pre-purchased time blocks

By The Hour

Best suited for clients with one-off projects or those that appear to be easily estimated by project scope. Or, best suited as an add-on option to retainers, per-project, or block-hour packages.

As of January 31, 2023, our standard, commercial hourly rate is $150 per hour with a $50 minimum. Nonprofits receive a discounted hourly rate of $95 per hour with a $50 minimum. Retained clients receive specially-discounted hourly rates that typically align with our nonprofit hourly rates.

Monthly Retainers

Clients who work with Standout Arts on a monthly, retained basis pay a flat fee per month in accordance with their Service Level Agreement (SLA) (Statement of Work/Contract). Retained clients will also be billed for services or products, each month, that fall outside of the scope of their current SLA with Standout Arts. These types of additional charges may include printing, third-party applications, website hosting, website domain registration, rush fees, reimbursement for services prepaid by Standout Arts, or by-the-hour/add-on hours for additional service hours that were used during the current billing period that fall outside of the scope/exceed the amount of service hours included with their current SLA with Standout Arts. Retainers are customized based on the needs/goals and budget of the client. Some monthly retainers INCLUDE prepaid advertising management by Standout Arts. These types of advertising are typically digital ads that are either/or geofencing digital display ads and/or paid social media ads. Some monthly retainers also include value-added services such as a set number of included rush services per month, annual renewal of website hosting and/or domain name registration, or consultation with our colleague who assists with Google Ads management, including the optimization of Google Ads on an ongoing/monthly basis.

Retained clients also always receive prioritized turnaround on all projects.

Retained clients also receive the option to join our team in our project management software.

Retained clients are receive a discount on our hourly rate for any add-on service hours that may be needed during any given billing period.

Whenever possible, retained clients also receive additional discounts on printed products that are managed by Standout Arts and printed by our online printing partners with whom we receive broker discounts.

Per Project

For many common projects, Standout Arts will offer a flat, estimated rate. Typical projects for which this method of billing works well include:

  • Websites
  • Logo Packages
  • Newsletters

For per project billing, the client receives all services/products included with the SLA for the project at the estimated total/flat package fee. However, all per project packages have limitations that are detailed within the SLA. For services/add-ons that fall outside of the scope of the SLA for the project, Standout Arts bills in accordance with the terms of the SLA and/or the general Terms of Service as posted on the Standout Arts website. Typically, this is a per-hour add-on fee.

Pre-Purchased Time Blocks

These are "chunks of service hours" that clients can purchase, upfront, at a discounted fee compared to the standard, commercial hourly rate. This works well for clients who have a strict budget for a single project or series of projects. Clients can opt to purchase block hours in 10, 20, 30, and 60-hour packages, all discounted compared to the standard, commercial hourly rate. Time Block purchases must be paid in full, upfront, unless otherwise stated within the client's SLA. Unused service hours remain credited to the client's account with Standout Arts for up to 12 months from the date of purchase. While pre-purchased time block packages work well for lots of projects and services by Standout Arts, there are some exclusions. For example, Standout Arts does not allow this option for the following:

  • Website Design & Development (Why? Website projects can quickly exceed the scope and scale of the original goal/SLA. As such, these projects must be quoted separately and billed as their own project.)
  • Third-party services or projects: Things like printing, apparel purchased/prepaid by Standout Arts, third-party application integrations for websites, or outsourced services - including those by Standout Arts colleagues in SEO, public relations, event planning, etc., are not eligible for pre-purchased time block packages.
  • Ongoing social media management (though graphic design for a series of posts could qualify for a pre-purchased block hour option).
  • On-Site photography (though image editing could be a pre-purchased block hour option)
  • Drone/Aerial videography or photography (though image or video editing could be a pre-purchased block hour option)

Only services that could be billed by the hour and are provided by the core team at Standout Arts apply for pre-purchased block hour package options.

Rush/After Hours

Any project that requires turnaround within 48 hours or less, work after normal business hours, during pre-publicized holiday or downtime for the Standout Arts team, or weekends, are subject to rush fees under the current Terms of Service as published on the Standout Arts website and/or in accordance with the client's SLA.
